Commissions

Susan Maddux creates singular custom works in close collaboration with collectors, designers, and art consultants. Painted and folded by hand in her Los Angeles studio, each piece takes shape through an attentive dialogue between color, material, form, and place, becoming a deeply personal work with a presence entirely its own.

In Conversation With Place

Commissioning a work opens a conversation between the artist, the artwork, and the place it will inhabit. Architecture, light, scale, and atmosphere become part of the process, informing the palette and form without prescribing the outcome.

Each piece develops through the same intuitive, material inquiry as the rest of Susan Maddux’s practice, leaving room for discovery and for the work to become something beyond what could have been planned. The result is a singular work, deeply connected to its setting yet possessing a life and presence entirely its own.

In a mid-century modern oasis, sculptural textiles feel right at home. Each piece exudes warmth and symmetry, organic elegance complementing the natural wood and verdant greenery both indoors and out.
