Art Rebound Episode 3: Trisha Lagaso-Goldberg, Independent Curator
Have you ever wondered what an independent curator does?
On this episode of Art Rebound, I spoke with Trisha Lagaso-Goldberg, self proclaimed "accidental arts administrator and curator" about her impressive career.
Listen to find out how she went from volunteering at Southern Exposure Gallery in San Francisco after art school at the San Francisco Art Institute and San Francisco State to working on the Carlos Villa exhibition "Worlds in Collision" traveling from the Newark Museum to the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco as well as the incredible show "Land's End" with the For-Site Foundation at the historic Cliff House in San Francisco in 2022.
Quotes:
“I consider myself an accidental arts administrator and curator.”
“Money isn't everything and I wanted to do work that had meaning and purpose, to create community and work together with others toward a common goal.”
As Executive Director of Southern Exposure Gallery:
“The part I loved was forging relationships.”
On working with her mentor, Carlos Villa:
“Carlos was a multi-hyphenate, teaching, curating, organizing and making art. He was always working for multiculturalism in the arts, interested in cracking the white, western art historical cannon. “
