New Day Dawning
When I was growing up in Hawaii, sometimes my friends would come and pick me up from my house very early in the morning before anyone was up, while it was still dark.
Then we would go and find a special spot up in the mountains or overlooking the ocean and watch the sunrise.
Drinking coffee out of a thermos and listening to the birds waking up felt very tender and soft as the day came on full of promise, ancient and new at the same time.
