Mantle

I spent my formative years walking and painting the rugged, volcanic coastlines and formations of the Hawaiian Islands. Within these scenes, I found so many different expressions of the character of the land.

This piece is an exploration of implied landscape, perhaps an imaginary landscape - something dream-like, caught out of the corner of your eye. Landscape within abstraction.

The cape-like silhouette also hints at wearable protection or camouflage, like a protective landscape you can get inside that embodies a space of stillness and rest.
