While researching my Japanese heritage, I was inspired to learn about the craft, beauty, and respect that goes into creating an incredible piece of samurai armor.
This piqued my imagination, and I wanted to explore the textures and colors of an ancient treasure trove filled with coral, tortoise shell and polished lacquer that seems to glow from within.
The pattern I used for this feels reminiscent of shadows, moth markings, lava rocks cooling and flowing embers.
When it began to take shape, I found myself falling for the feeling that it could take flight, and let it go.
