Cobalt Queen

This piece taught me about timing. It could not be rushed to completion. I almost gave up on it many times, but I knew there was potential for something really unique.

Eventually, a way to move forward revealed itself: a painting left from another piece fit perfectly. Then I knew what to do next, and it began to flow and became unstoppable. This piece will always remind me that things come together when they are ready.

The unpredictable result feels like an apparition, a portal, a sentinel. The color harmonies and the rising and falling of the gradients create movement. Combined with the intricate folding, this gives the piece a feeling of weightlessness, as if it were flowing underwater, light refracting beneath the surface of the ocean.

Some part of me is always in the aquatic world, and it feels like home to be with the spirit of this piece, rising out of seafoam.
