Ferne
Ferne feels like an old friend, a nature presence that has come to play. There is both movement and stillness here, a sense of balance between the whimsical form and grounded symmetry.
Parts of the surface are intentionally left a little raw, allowing detail and natural energy to remain visible. The painting and the form are both rich in texture and subtle variation, inviting a closer look.
Spending time walking in nature, especially in Los Angeles, deeply informs this work. Here, the seasons are felt through small shifts. A single rainfall can transform the landscape, bringing everything back to green.
Ferne feels born from that rhythm. The continual cycle of growth, fading, and return. The quiet resilience of the natural world, a constant teacher.
When walking in the hills, I often make small offerings, simple nature shrines formed from what I find along the way. In those moments, I feel closely connected to the spirit of the landscape. That presence feels embedded in this work.
Ferne carries a grounded, powerful energy into the spaces it inhabits. It is a steady, living presence that brings a sense of calm, vitality, and connection to the natural world.
